10 Urine Colors And What It Says About Your Health

This sounds ridiculous I know but it remains a neglected fact. Urine says a lot about our health and it's one thing that most people don't pay attention to including you. You just feel pressed, go to the rest room and boom! It starts rushing out with your eyes closed because of the feelings haha.



This is a natural phenomenon but instead while you give yourself some relief, also focus on the color of your urine to determine the state of your health, especially the heart, kidney or liver areas.

What I intend to achieve by sharing this with you is not to scare you but help you put your health on check 24/7 as much as possible to know when and when not to visit your doctor.
I'm going to show you 10 obvious urine colors and what it could be saying about your health.

1. Dark Urine.


Dark urine is mostly related to severe dehydration. But also, it could be telling you that excess or harmful waste is circulating in your body. Here you should watch closely as it may be dark brown which may be pointing at liver disease owing to bile product in urine. Whichever it may be, you should make an appointment with your doctor.

2. Pink or Reddish.


Such color could be as a result of probably what you ate in the last 48 hours. Foods such as berries and beets can change your urine color but other serious health challenges that such colors might be saying to you are injury to kidney, urinary tract infection, blood from vaginal bleeding, hemolytic aneamia, kidney stones as well as cancer.

3. Green or Blue



Now you are thinking what the heck! Yea another rare color and when you notice this color it could be due to medications, bacteria caused by pseudomonas, foods or urinary tract infection (UTI). Have you been eating food dyes? If No, or any of these medications; amitriptyline, indomethacin, promethazine, probofol (deprivan). If none of this it's time to consult your doctor or a professional.

4. Orange.


Orange urine is commonly seen due to foods as well that we consume daily. Medications too can cause your urine to change in color, vitamin B and laxarlaxa. Normal urine color ranges from pale yellow to deep Amber. The amount of water intake determines whether or not you need more water.
If your urine stays orange irrespective of of diets for 3 days, you should see a doctor.

5. Fizzy or Foamy.


When your bladder is full especially after holding urine for long, it becomes fizzy or Foamy because of the pressure to which it rushes out. It could be pointing to other factors like excess protein, fluid buildup, trouble sleeping, nausea or infertility in men. Make an appointment with your doctor and find out possible causes of frequent fizzy or Foamy urine.

6. Milky or Cloudy.


Milky urine could be due to pus, fat globules, crystals or UTIs. Milky or Cloudy urine is an indication of medical emergencies such as kidney infection, prostititis, sexually transmitted infections, kidney stones, vulvovaginitis etc. Nothing is advised to do on your own at this point other than to see a doctor.

7. Brown or Dark orange.


What comes to mind when you mention brown or dark orange urine to a medical professional is hepatic dysfunction, jaundice or muscular injury. Medically known as rhabdomyolysis. Should not be overlooked.

8. Pale, Yellow or Amber.


This is normal urine colors depending on level of urochromes concentration.
When it is pale; diluted urine and dark yellow; dehydration.


9. Purple.


Purple urine is because bacteria in the urine produce the enzymes indoxyl phosphates. Majorly, purple urine is due to PUBS, a medical condition where purple decoloration of urine occurs in people with urinary catheters and co-existing urinary tract infection.

10. Transparent.


Transparent urine is only saying you are taking a bit excess water and urine over diluted. At this point, you should reduce your water intake and observe again 24hours.
