Causes of Dry Skin

Dry skin usually occurs due to several factors both natural and lifestyle. It's usually experienced during winter in America and Asia but this is common during harmattan in Africa; West Africa to be precise.

Dry skin is related to any of these four (4) major causes.

1. Weather. Skin tends to be driest in winter, when temperatures and humidity levels plummet. But the season may not matter as much if you live in desert regions.

2. Heat. Central heating, wood-burning stoves, space heaters and fireplaces all reduce humidity and dry your skin.

3. Hot baths and showers. Taking long, hot showers or baths can dry your skin. So can frequent swimming, particularly in heavily chlorinated pools.

4. Harsh soaps and detergents. Many popular soaps, detergents and shampoos strip moisture from your skin as they are formulated to remove oil.

1. Prepare a mixture of egg yolk, orange juice, olive oil, rose water and lime juice.
~ Put 1 tsp of orange juice in a small bowl.
~ Add egg yolk from 1 egg.

~ Add 2 drops of lime juice and stir thoroughly.
Apply this on dry area every morning for about 15 minutes before taking your bath.

2. Mixture of banana and honey.
~ Mash 1/2 ripe banana.

~ Mix to become paste.
Apply on dry skin, allow to dry before washing off with water and pat dry.
